One website often leads to another. Today I followed a hyperlink to “7 Thoughts That Are Bad For You” by Jeanna Bryner www.livescience.com/health/090911-7-bad-thoughts.html. It turns out the following things are proven to be bad for your health:
Cynicism, lack of meaning, fretting, lack of self control, anxiety, gloom & doom, stress.
It seems to me that the Bible was onto this stuff a couple of thousand years ago.
Cynicism – “do not sit in the seat of mockers”
Lack of meaning – “here is the conclusion of the matter: fear God and keep his commandments”
Fretting – “do not worry”
Lack of self control – “be self-controlled and alert”
Anxiety – “tomorrow will worry about itself”
Gloom & doom – “rejoice in the Lord always”
Stress – “He restores my soul”
For curiosity’s sake I followed the next link to Clara Moskowitz “5 Things That Will Make You Happier”
/www.livescience.com/health/how-to-be-happy-100222.html and found the following survey results:
Be grateful, be optimistic, count your blessings, use your strengths, commit acts of kindness.
And again, my Heavenly Father was way ahead of the game.
Be grateful – “give thanks to the Lord”
Be optimistic – “the Lord is on His heavenly throne”
Count your blessings – “I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.”
Use your strengths – “whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might”
Commit acts of kindness– “be kind and compassionate to one another”
Nice to know that the world is keeping up. 🙂
